Storyboard #1 Feedback

The presentation went really well, i managed to present all my ideas across. I still felt very nervous and it's not something that i feel ok about doing yet, but i think with more practice that will come and i will feel more confident in standing up in front of my class mates and showing them my ideas. The feedback that both Sharon and the class gave me was very helpful in helping me decide how i wanted to shoot my brand image and what i had to do in order to achieve the best photo i could.

These are some of the points that i got from the feedback:

- Create 1 storyboard instead of 4 different ones.
- Focus on the highlight and how you can capture it in a photo using good lighting set ups.
- The idea around the banned ads and making the picture look uncomfortable to the eye is a good idea.
- Sexualised image
- Include the 'Le smoking' style suit jacket to show that it is YSL as that is very iconic for the brand.

Moodboard #1 feedback

The main points that i got from my feedback after presenting my mood board were:

• Focus more on gay pride instead of tribes. Tribes are going a bit off topic. Sharon mentioned that i should look into groups within gay pride festivals such as a group who wear immaculate make up but dress as nuns.

• Focus on the research and the story behind it instead of focusing my mood board on everything make up related. If i have an idea and research the background of it then i can create face charts from that.

• Look into punks and rebels from different eras. Punks were known for wearing badges on their clothing that were very powerful and often offensive.

• Look at urban art such as graffiti as that symbolises rebels in society because they arent allowed to spray paint of random buildings, it’s illegal.

• Find some images that are inspirational to some of the ideas that i have. Sharon showed me the ‘beauty papers’ magazine which is all inspiring images for makeup artists however the images don't necessarily have anything to do with make up.

Overall my classmates liked my use of bright colours and bold text. They said that the images were very strong,bold, bright colours. From this feedback i understand where i want to focus on and progress to. I want to stick with gay pride and steer away from tribes, use a lot of bright, bold colours and do more research into different groups within gay pride festivals. As for the rebel groups shown on the left i am not sure if i want to include those, i want to see how much information and inspiration i can get from gay pride first and then try and incorporate them in if i can.

Evaluation of feedback from Digital Image 1

The over all feedback on my first digital image project was very positive however there were a few parts that let me down.

Chris liked my over all images and thought they went well. He liked the way i did my mood board and described what was on it and why. However when placing the final images into the template on InDesign the images appeared a lot darker and they were stretched. I thought i sorted this issue at the time, however i can't have. I will definitely take note of this in future and check with Peter that my images aren't affected when placed in a template.

When Sharon looked over the mark Chris has given and remarked it she scored me lower than Chris because of my blog. There was a lack of posts on research and practice that i had done before the final shoots. I agree with everything that she said as i knew myself i didn't do a lot of blog posts on my digital image blog and lacked A LOT of research. This is something i am trying to improve for digital image 2.

They both mentioned how they can see i have grown in confidence and my knowledge around photography is a lot better after the first brief. I personally think i am a lot more confident now when it comes to photography and setting up the studio etc. The only part i feel that i need to improve on is post production as there is so much you can change in an image using all the different programmes i need a better understanding of how to use them all.
